Twin Cam models were initially available with fuel injection systems or a carburetor, but Harley-Davidson eventually made the transition to only offering Twin Cams with EFI systems. The displacement gradually increased, starting at 88 cu in., expanding to 96 cu in., then to 103 cu in., and cinally to 110 cu in. In line with market demands, performance and reliability were improved, including the adoption of a standard 6-speed transition. Among the Twin Cam models, the Dyna has developed a new cult following because of its twin-shock chassis and the sporty feel resulting from its rubber- mount drivetrain. Its character—stable at high speeds and capable of offering solid handling on winding roads—could be said to have laid the foundation for contemporary Harley-Davidson performance custom movement. It has already been 9 years since the Twin Cam was succeeded by the M8, but the Twin Cam Dyna continues to captivate riders around the world.
