H-D のカスタムシーンは、いま大きなパラダイムシフトを迎えようとしている。造形やクローム、ペイントの美しさで魅せる従来のショーバイクに加え、ハイパフォーマンス／モアパワーに基づくアップグレードを経て、従来には成し得なかった革新的な走行性能を提唱するカスタムH-Dの台頭である。その大きな潮流の中心にいるのが、米国ユタ州を拠点とするKRAUS MOTOだ。昨今のトップビルダーやワンランク上の走りを希求するバイカーがこぞってKRAUSを選択する理由を検証するべく、彼らの本拠てあるユタ州の街セントジョージへ向かった̶

The Harley-Davidson custom scene is on the verge of a major paradigm shift. Traditional show bikes with sculpted lines, chrome, and beautiful paint jobs are being replaced by Harley-Davidsons with performance and power upgrades that result in previously unattainable performance. At the center of this trend is the Utah-based company Kraus Moto. To find out why Kraus is chosen by today’s top builders and by bikers who want to take their bike’s performance to the next level, we traveled to St. George, Utah, to pay Kraus a visit.

Custom bikes from throughout Japan gathered in Nagoya for Joints 2026. Each bike was not only a creative work but also served as a reflection of its builder’s philosophy and of the atmosphere of the current era. For this special feature, we selected a group of customs on display at the event based on our “Modern & Performance” theme. These machines, embodying functional beauty and the pursuit of performance, give us insight into the new trends shaping Japan’s contemporary custom scene.

IN DYNA WE TRUST

1999年にデビューしたTwin Camは、2017 年の最終年式まで18 年にわたりH-D の中核を担った。旧来のキャブレターとフューエルインジェクション仕様が併売された創世記からEFI へ完全以降を果たし、排気量も88cu.inから96、103を経て110cu.inまで拡大。さらに6spトランスミッションの標準採用など、市場の要求に呼応すべく、パフォーマンスと信頼性をブラッシュアップさせた。なかでもツインショックシャシーを美徳とするDynaは、ラバーマウント式パワートレインが生み出すスポーツマインドにより新たな信奉者を創出。高速巡航での安定感とワインディングでの運動性能を併せ持つキャラクターは、今日隆盛を極めるパフォーマンスH-Dムーブメントの礎を築く。2018 年にM8モデルにその座を譲り早9 年。今なお世界中のライダーを魅了し続けるTwin Cam Dyna の真価を、ここに再検証する。

The Twin Cam debuted in 1999 and was at the heart of the Harley-Davidson lineup until it was replaced in 2018. Twin Cam models were initially available with fuel injection systems or a carburetor, but Harley-Davidson eventually made the transition to only offering Twin Cams with EFI systems. The displacement gradually increased, starting at 88 cu in., expanding to 96 cu in., then to 103 cu in., and cinally to 110 cu in. In line with market demands, performance and reliability were improved, including the adoption of a standard 6-speed transition. Among the Twin Cam models, the Dyna has developed a new cult following because of its twin-shock chassis and the sporty feel resulting from its rubber- mount drivetrain. Its character—stable at high speeds and capable of offering solid handling on winding roads—could be said to have laid the foundation for contemporary Harley-Davidson performance custom movement. It has already been 9 years since the Twin Cam was succeeded by the M8, but the Twin Cam Dyna continues to captivate riders around the world. In this feature, we take a deeper look at its true value.

2026年5月、イタリアで開催された世界的なコンクールデレガンス、コンコルソ・ディレガンツァ・ヴィラデステの会場でBMW Motorradは斬新なコンセプトモデルを発表した。それがVision K18だ。6気筒エンジンを抱くそれは、これまでBMWが育て上げてきた唯一無二の6気筒ツアラーの未来像を示唆するモデルである——。

In May 2026, at the world-renowned Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy, BMW Motorrad unveiled its new concept model, the Vision K18. The bike offers a glimpse of the future of the one-of-a-kind six-cylinder touring models that BMW has cultivated up to the present.

Langen 2-stroke 

2ストロークエンジンのロードスポーツモデルがこの世から姿を消して久しい。そんななか、イギリスの気鋭のブランドLangen（ランゲン）は、現代の環境規制に対応する高性能2ストロークモデルを製造して世の2ストフリークから注目を集めている。そんなモデルを販売するのはFanticなど欧州のブランドを取り扱うMOTORISTSである。

2-stroke sports models all but disappeared from the market long ago, but in recent years, the up-and-coming British brand Langen has gotten a lot of attention by releasing a high-performance 2-stroke motorcycle. The bike is available in Japan from Motorists, a dealer that also carries motorcycles  from Fantic and other European brands.

アマチュアレースの祭典、MCFAJクラブマンロードレースのクラスでMAX 10グループが主催する輸入車専門のレースカテゴリがあることをご存知だろうか。DucatiやBMW、Moto Guzzi、そしてH-D、Royal Enfieldなど多彩な車両が集うレースは、数ある日本のアマチュアレースの中でも指折りの見応えだ。そして近年ではH-Dの新旧Vツインも出走、まさに本場のSuperHooligan顔負けの熱いレースが開催されている。

Were you aware that in the MCFAJ Clubman Road Race, there is one racing category, organized by the Max10 Group, open only to imported motorcycles? It features a variety of motorcycles, including Ducatis, BMWs, Moto Guzzis, Harley-Davidsons, and Royal Enfields, and features some of Japan’s most spectacular amateur races. Vintage and new Harley-Davidson V-twins have recently been competing, and the fierce battles rival the Super Hooligan races in the US.
