FRISCO CHOPPERS

1975 年、Valencia Street に生まれたFRISCO CHOPPERS。その名が半世紀の時を越え、再びSan Franciscoのストリートに帰ってきた。新たな拠点は1141 Howard Street。看板を掲げるのはCharlie NucciとJoseph “Joey” Wilsonだ。これは単なる名門の復活にあらず。FRISCO の名に刻まれた1%erたちの記憶と、この街で育まれた独自のチョッパーカルチャーを、過去の遺産ではなく現在進行形のものとして次代へ繋ぐ試みである。

Frisco Choppers was born on Valencia Street in 1975, and now, half a century later, the iconic name has returned to the streets of San Francisco—under the leadership of Charlie Nucci and Joseph “Joey” Wilson and with a new location at 1141 Howard Street. Rather than a mere revival of a legendary brand, it is an effort to carry the memories of San Francisco's 1%ers and its unique chopper culture into the future—not as a relic of the past, but as a living movement.

THE NEW STANDARD / H-D M8 SOFTAIL

2018年、約20年にわたりビッグツインモデルの中核を担ったTwin-Cam Eraに、H-Dカンパニーはひとつの区切りをつけた。4バルブヘッドとシングルカムを備えるMilwaukee-Eight（＝M8)と、旧Dyna 比91％、旧Softail 比65％もの高剛性化を果たしつつ、伝統たるSoftail のシルエットを保ちながら、リアサスペンションをモノショックへと刷新した新設計フレームを捻り上げ、異なる系譜にあったDynaとSoftailをひとつのプラットフォームへ統合したM8 Softailは、単なるモデルチェンジではなく、Big Twin の設計思想そのものを刷新した大きな転換点だった。劇的なデビューから8年を経た今、M8 Softailはカスタムベースとして新たな成熟期を迎えつつある。本特集では、日米5人のカスタムビルダーが手掛けた最新のM8 Softail にフォーカス。異なる思想から生み出された5台を通して浮かび上がるのは、従来の様式をなぞるだけではない、次なるCUSTOM H-Dの輪郭だ。伝統を継承しながら、最新のテックをいかに昇華させパフォーマンスに帰結させるか。今日M8 Softailを選択し、カスタムすることの意味とは――その最前線から、次世代のニュースタンダードを検証する。

In 2018, Harley-Davidson brought an end to the two-decade era of the Twin-Cam —which formed the core of its Big Twin lineup—with the release of the M8 Softail. It was equipped with a Milwaukee Eight (M8) engine featuring 4-valve heads and a single-cam design, in addition to a newly engineered frame that maintained the traditional Softail silhouette but had a rear mono-shock and was 91% more rigid than previous Dyna models and 65% more rigid than previous Softail models. By consolidating the distinct Dyna and Softail lines into a single platform, the M8 Softail marked a major turning point in the design philosophy of the Big Twin. Now, 8 years after the M8 Softail’s dramatic debut, it is experiencing a new boom as a custom base. In this special feature, we showcase M8 Softail builds from 5 builders in Japan and the US. What emerges from these 5 bikes—each born from a distinct philosophy—is a blueprint for the next generation of Harley-Davidson customization, which goes far beyond merely following convention. How does one honor heritage while using cutting-edge technology for raw performance? What does it truly mean to custom-build an M8 Softail today? From the front lines, we examine the new standard of the next generation."

CHIEFの血脈 / 2026 INDIAN MOTORCYCLE

ひとつのCHIEF から導き出された、三つの回答。125年の血統を現代へ紡ぐCHIEF VINTAGE、余分を削ぎ落とし本質を研ぎ澄ましたCHIEF DARK HORSE、そして走りの領域へ踏み込んだSPORT CHIEF。同じ1890ccのThunderstroke 116 と鋼管シャシーを礎に、三車三様の個性を描き出す。その姿に2026 INDIAN が提示するCHIEF の現在地が映し出される。

Three distinct machines derived from a single platform—the Chief Vintage, which carries 125 years of heritage into the present; the Chief Dark Horse, a stripped-down machine with refined essence; and the Sport Chief, which ventures into the realm of high-performance machines. All feature the same 1,890 cc Thunderstroke 116 engine and tubular-steel frame, but each has its own unique identity. This is where the Chief series stands in 2026.

日本のストリートファッションシーンをリードし続けるNEIGHBORHOOD。特に、国内外のさまざまな一流ブランドとのコラボレーションは常に刺激的で、コレクションがローンチされる度に界隈のファッションピープルを熱狂させてきた。これから紹介するのは、Yohji Yamamoto、adidas、そしてNEIGHBORHOODによるコラボレーションを起点として製作されたスペシャルなR nineTである。その製作をプロデュースしたのはもちろん、NEIGHBORHOODのファウンダーでありディレクターでもある滝沢信介だ。

 Neighborhood continues to occupy a position at the forefront of Japan’s street fashion scene. Its collaborations with various top-tier brands both in Japan and abroad are particularly exciting, with the launch of each new collection sending the fashion scene into a frenzy. Featured here is an R nineT Neighborhood created from a collaboration between Yohji Yamamoto, Adidas, and Neighborhood. The project was produced by Shinsuke Takizawa, Neighborhood’s founder and director.

ハイパフォーマンスを目指して愛車に手を入れる。キャブレターの変更やECUチューニング、そして排気系のグレードアップは誰しも思い浮かべるメニューだろう。しかし、強化したパワーユニットを活かすも殺すも、最終的には足周り次第だ。サスペンションや駆動系、そしてタイヤがそれに当たる。そんな中でも今回は消耗品として捉えられがちなタイヤと駆動系にフォーカスしてみたい。

When it comes to tuning you ride for high performance, replacing the carburetor, ECU tuning, and upgrading the exhaust system are probably the first modifications that come to mind for most riders. However, whether you make the most of your upgraded powertrain or let its potential go to waste ultimately depends on the running gear—specifically, the suspension, drivetrain, and tires. In this special feature, we’d like to focus on the tires and drivetrain, which are often seen as mere consumables.
