100TH ANNIVERSARY OF BMW MOTORRAD

1世紀に渡って世界のモーターサイクルシーンを牽引してきたBMW Motorrad。その象徴たるは、BMWの生み出した数々のテクノロジーだ。テレスコピック式フォークの発明やボクサーエンジンの開発、ABSの実用化などBMWは常に時代の一歩先をゆく革新によって歴史を紡いできた。今回は現在のBMWが手掛ける世界的なカスタムコンテストやドイツ本国で開催するオフィシャルイベント、そして最新型のR 18を通じて、BMW Motorrad の「いま」について掘り下げる。それらに共通するのは、過去に捉われることなく新しいBMW像を創出しようとするアティデュードである。

BMW Motorrad has led the global motorcycle scene for the past 100 years. And that which most symbolizes BMW is the plethora of new technology it have developed. It invented the telescopic fork, developed the boxer engine, and succeeded in the practical application of ABS. BMW has repeatedly made history by creating innovations that are one step ahead of its era.  大英帝国発のフラットトラック専門誌、『SIDE BURN』と日本のフラットトラックシーンを牽引するカスタムビルダーCHEETAH CUSTOM CYCLES大沢 俊之、Indian Motorcycleによる三つ巴のプロジェクトがベールを脱いだ。フラットトラックのエンスージアストが手を組み、2023年5月ロンドンのBike Shed Moto Showでお披露目されたIndian FTR1200Sベースのストリートトラッカー“TOKYO CONNECTION” の正体に迫る。

Sideburn, a UK flat track magazine, and Cheetah Custom Cycles’Toshiyuka Osawa, a leading custom builder in Japan’s flat track scene, teamed up with Indian Motorcycle for a three-way collaborative project, and the veil has been lifted. “Tokyo Connection,”the result of the collaboration between the flat track enthusiasts, is a street tracker with an FTR 1200S base. It was first displayed at the Bike Shed Moto Show in May 2023
